Juniors can play on courts 3-6 every weekday between 1-6pm. 'The Club divides its Junior membership between those under and over 10 years of age - for the younger age group please go to the Mini Tennis section' At weekends there is junior coaching all morning on Saturdays and junior social play after 6pm on Sunday nights. There is a court allocation plan in the clubhouse and also here on the site in the 'general club info' section. If people are waiting for the courts, please limit your play to a set. You should also play doubles if other people are waiting as this maximizes use of each court. If you do not wish to play a set you can knock up for 20mins at a time, after which you should offer the court to those waiting.
Clothing and equipment: As most of you like to look the part, this probably won't apply, but just in case you've forgotten, only tennis shoes can be worn on court and your clothing should be primarily designed for tennis - no football strips please!
Rackets: If you want to buy a racket, or ask advice, the best person to speak to is Alan Kemp. Alan normally has a selection of rackets you can try, to make sure you choose the right one before you buy. Parents Committee We are also lucky to have a number of parents involve themselves with the junior section and help by running various activities for the juniors as well as special events like American tournaments. Please let us know if you can think of anyone who might be interested.
Brentwood Tennis Club is one of the growing number of tennis clubs nationwide that has been granted accreditation to the Mini Tennis Initiative.
Mini Tennis is exactly what its name suggests-a mini game of tennis that youngsters and more inexperienced players can play on a smaller court. The main aim is to provide a fun and safe environment in which children can learn skills and tactics and develop a real love of the game before eventually progressing to "proper" tennis.
The Mini Tennis Academy at Brentwood Tennis Club has been going for several years now and is believed to be one of the largest Mini Tennis programme in Essex, where U10's participate in weekly sessions that are both challenging and fun!
The Mini Tennis section now runs separately to the main Junior section with the annual subscription reduced to reflect the more limited playing opportunities that this age group enjoys. The membership subscription includesthe cost of 4 group coaching sessions and becomes due on 1st April. Please complete a Mini Academy Application form and send it with your fees to John Twyford, 48 Priests Lane, Brentwood, CM15 8BY.
It forms part of a country-wide scheme designed to take tennis into the grass roots. It is designed for younger boys and girls, aged 4-10.
The emphasis is on playing tennis for fun, introducing standard ball skills in an innovative and interesting manner. Participants are encouraged to progress through various levels of achievement, with the aim of moving on to playing on a full sized court. Although the scheme is a locally organised initiative, group sessions also operate at the Club for all levels. These sessions are in a series of 10 week courses and are open to all, although you have to be a junior member of the Club.

JUNIOR SCHOOLS
Our Club Coach - Alan Kemp is is once again going into several local primary schools to introduce the children to tennis. Arrangements have been for him to coach Year 2/3 children during March in their respective school halls, and Year 5/6 children in May and June either at their school or on the Club's courts.
Brentwood Tennis Club has been providing this link with schools since 2001 and the benefits now reach approximately 800 children per year.
SENIOR SCHOOLS
The Club has enjoyed a link with Shenfield High School for a number of years under which their nationally successful senior match squad uses our facilities as the venue for their home matches and for weekly match practise.
Annual Junior Tournament: Each year we have a junior tournament open to anyone under the age of 18. The draw is displayed on the junior notice board and you arrange your own matches within the time given. Finals are normally played on the second or third weekend in July and form part of the Club's Finals Day. Parents needed! Parents can help in running the teams and we are always delighted to have volunteers. If you know any parents that might be interested, please let Alan Kemp know.
